Redmi 7A with 5.45-inch HD+ display, Snapdragon 439, splash-resistant body launching in India on July 4 on Flipkart [Update: 12MP Sony IMX486 sensor]

Update: July 3, 2019 — A day before the launch, the company has confirmed that the Indian version of the Redmi 7A will feature 12MP Sony IMX486 sensor with 1.25um pixel size and AI features, same as the Indian variant of the Redmi Note 7 and the Mi A2. The Chinese Redmi 7A has a 13-megapixel sensor with 1.12um pixel size.

Earlier: After teasers, Flipkart has confirmed that the Redmi 7A will launch in India on July 4th. The Indian version is expected to come with an IR sensor on the top, which was not present in the Chinese model, based on a tweet from Manu Jain.

Redmi 7A, the company’s latest budget smartphone and the successor of last year’s Redmi 6A was introduced last month in China. Today, Redmi India has confirmed that it will launch the phone in India soon, which could be along with the Redmi K20 series mid-July. The company called the Redmi 5A and 6A  ‘Desh Ka Smartphone’, the 7A is being promoted as ‘Smart Desh Ka Smartphone’

It also said that it has sold over 23.6 million or 2.36 crore units of Redmi 4A, 5A and 6A combined till April 2019.

The phone comes in Black and Blue colors and was introduced in China starting at 549 yuan (US$ 79 / Rs. 5,505 approx.) for the 2GB RAM with 16GB storage version, so you can expect it in India for less than Rs. 6000.
