Few weeks back Amazfit launched the lighter version of it BIP smartwatch in India cutting out few features. This product from Huami (Xiaomi funded) is the company’s cheapest smartwatch under Amazfit range of smartwatches. We got hold of the device for some time, and this is what we think about it.
Design and Display
When it comes to the design, it looks stunningly similar to its bigger brother Amazfit BIP. It sports a 1.28-inch always-on reflective color LED display that has a pixel resolution of 176 x 176 pixels. The display has five brightness levels, and we found out that 40-60% of brightness is suitable enough for both indoor and outdoor.
The 20mm standard watch band is made of soft material and can be changed if required. The bundled watch strap is very comfortable. The BIP Lite can be used for sleep tracking as well. On the back, we have the charging pins and heart rate sensor that glows in green while measuring heart rate.
The touchscreen display supports various gestures including swipe up, swipe down, swipe left and swipe right, which is intuitive and very easy to get used to. The hardware button on the right side can be pressed to unlock the smartwatch, and can also be programmed to start tracking a specific activity on long press.
Software
The BIP Lite can be paired to the smartphone through Mi Fit and Amazfit app available on both Android and iOS. The Amazfit BIP Lite also supports heart rate sleep assistant, which gathers more precise sleep data by measuring your heart rate when you are sleeping. Furthermore, it also supports notification alerts for incoming calls, incoming SMS, event reminders, goal notifications.
In addition to these, it also has Idle alert that vibrates when you are inactive for 1 hour and do not disturb (DND) that disables all notifications from your phone during the period of time you set. There is only limited watch faces available on the watch, but third-party watch face apps for more.
Battery
Amazfit BIP Lite has a 190mAh Li-Polymer battery but that too results in great battery life as the tiny always-on reflective display doesn’t require much battery, and that’s the reason behind the company claiming a battery life of 30 to 45 days depending on usage.
In our usage, we got around 30 days in different settings. With minimal usage, we managed to get more than 40 days of backup. The watch takes about 2 hours to go to 100 from 0 using a 5V/2A charger.
Conclusion
Priced at Rs. 3999, the Amazfit BIP Lite is worth considering if you’re looking for an entry-level smartwatch. It has a compact design, has 3ATM (30 meters) ratings for water and dust resistance and also has always-on reflective color LED display and heart rate sensor. It loses GPS + GLONASS and Compass that the BIP has, which is acceptable considering the price.
If you are looking for an affordable activity and sleep tracker with a heart rate sensor and excellent battery life which can replace your existing wristwatch, the Amazfit BIP Lite is what you need. It was sold on Amazon during Prime day last month for Rs. 3999, but it is currently out of stock. If you can spend a bit more (Rs. 5490), the Amazfit BIP that we had reviewed last year is a better choice with built-in GPS support and IP68 water resistance that is available from Flipkart.
