Reliance Jio at its 42nd annual general meeting (AGM) in Mumbai announced that Jio Fiber will roll out commercially starting from September 5th, 2019 on the third anniversary of Jio’s launch. This will reach 20 million residences and 15 million business establishments in 1,600 towns and will expand in the next 12 months, said Mukesh Ambani. It started trials for JioGigaFiber services from August 15th last year.
Jio Fiber plans start from Rs. 700 for 100Mbps plan and go up to Rs. 10,000 for 1 Gbps plans. Complete set of plans will be revealed when it is launched on September 5th.
Jio Fiber users get a free landline that will offer voice calls across India from absolutely free forever.
US and Canada Pack at Rs. 500 per month will offer unlimited calling.
Jio Fiber will come bundled with subscriptions to most leading premium OTT applications. Jio First Day First Show will allow premium JioFiber customers watch movies at home the same day they are released in theaters.! This service will be launched in the middle of 2020.
JioPostPaid Plus service for JioFiber users will offer platinum-grade service and product experience. This includes India’s first priority SIM-setup service at home, where your connection will be moved to Jio by visiting your home, Seamless Data and Voice Connectivity across all your devices, both at home and outside, Unprecedented Family plans – one data plan for better control on GBs and sharing within your family, International roaming at a fraction of a cost with superior service experience, Phone upgrades at preferential rates and all your home solutions on your phone.
Jio Fiber Welcome Offer will offer Jio Fiber customers opting for annual Jio Forever annual plan a Full HD or 4K TV depending on the plan and a 4K set-top-box absolutely free.
There will also be VR content, Multiparty Video Conferencing for free, Voice enabled Virtual Assistants, Interacting gaming, Home security and Smart home Solutions for home broadband customers.
The Jio set-top-box will also offer online multi-player gaming in 4K and has support for most gaming controllers. It has partnered with Microsoft, Tencent Games, Gameloft, RIOT Games, Milestone and more for the games.
The company also showed off mixed reality headset Jio Holoboard, for shopping, educational, entertainment needs, which will be launched soon. This headset is made by a company called Tesseract, one of the startups Jio has invested in.
