Realme launched the realme 5 and realme 5 pro smartphones in India last week, and these will go on sale starting this week on Flipkart. In the latest episode of #AskMadhav, the company CEO, Madhav Sheth has answered some questions about these phones, including bootloader unlocking, ‘screen on time’ feature and more.
realme has enabled Cam2API out of the box on both the phones, so users can side-load ported Google Camera APKs for advanced editing and RAW capture. He also said that Bootloader unlocking option will be available for the devices within a month, so we can expect within September.
realme devices don’t show screen on time in battery option, instead it simply shows ‘Screen on’ which is confusing. The company will push an OTA update to the realme 5 series in October to add ‘screen on time’ option. This feature will also be available for older realme phones via OTA update in the future, and the details of the roll out will soon be revealed.
Finally, regarding the offline availability of the phones, he said that both the phones will be available mid-September, which is good news for those who are looking to buy the phone offline.
He did not pick any questions regarding the realmeOS, which the company has started working on recently. However, in our interview, he said that developments are still in initial stages and far from final. realmeOS will have a decent amount of customization options without much of bloatware.
