HUAWEI P40 series including P40 Pro with LEICA penta rear cameras, 10x optical zoom to be announced on March 26 [New Video teaser]

At the Mate Xs launch event last month, HUAWEI CEO Richard Yu confirmed that P40 series flagship phones will be announced on March 26 in Paris, France. The company even introduced P40 Lite and P40 Lite E phones recently. Today the company has official posted a teaser image that shows the large camera bump along with the launch date. The poster says #VisionaryPhotography highlighting the phone’s camera prowess. We had seen some specifications of the phone earlier this year now more details about the camera have surfaced.

HUAWEI P40 Pro rumored camera specifications

  • 52MP Sony IMX700 1/1.28″ 1.22μm pixels sensor with (Hexadeca Bayer) RYYB for 13MP output
  • 40MP 1/1.5″ Sony IMX650 RGGB ultra wide cine camera
  • Telephoto camera for 3x optical zoom
  • Dual prism periscope camera with 2P1G (plastic + glass) lenses  for 10x optical zoom
  • ToF sensor, Color temperature sensor
  • LED flash

Based on earlier rumors, the P40 Pro is said to feature 6.5-inch OLED curved screen, powered by Kirin 990 SoC with 5G support, feature in-display fingerprint scanner and run Android 10 based on EMUI 10 out of the box. It is said to pack 4200mAh battery with support for 50W HUAWEI SuperCharge, while the P40 is said to come with a 3800mAh battery. The image already revealed dual punch-hole display for the P40 Pro and the P40 is said to feature single punch-hole screen.

The P40 Pro Premium Edition is said to feature penta rear camera arrangement and Ceramic back, while the P40 and P40 Pro standard edition could have quad rear cameras. We should know all the details when the phones go official later this month.
