realme has been rolling out Android 10 based realme UI 1.0 to the eligible devices as per the official schedule. realme 3 Pro, realme XT, realme 5 Pro, realme X, realme X2 and realme X2 Pro have already received Android 10 based realme UI 1.0 update so far, the company will update realme 3 and 3i to realme UI 1.0 this month.
Recently, realme 3 Pro and realme 5 Pro got Android 10 Pixel Experience ROM support officially. Now, the company has released Android 10 based Kernel Source codes for realme 3 Pro and realme 5 Pro, so there are good chances that we see some more custom ROMs for the smartphone in the coming months.
The company has also updated its Bootloader unlock tool for Android 10, and realme 5 Pro and 3 Pro users can now unlock the bootloader of their devices but unlocking bootloader will downgrade the Widevine certification level to L3 from L1 and users will no longer be able to enjoy HD content on apps like Hotstar, Amazon Prime Videos, and Netflix.
Unlocking the bootloader will erase all the data on the device and might affect OTA updates, users will also not get official OTA updates as bootloader unlocking makes the secure data partition inaccessible. Users are supposed to visit the service center in case they wish to roll back to stock Color OS from a custom ROM, which will be done free of charge as per the realme community post.
The company has not mentioned anything clearly regarding the warranty status post bootloader unlocking and said “Please refer to local warranty policy.” in past realme always said that it will honor the warranty if something goes wrong while unlocking the bootloader or flashing a custom ROM.
Even though the source code is not useful for normal users, it would be helpful for Android developers and tinkerers who would like to create custom software builds. You can download the kernel source from the GitHub source link below.
