Microsoft’s Surface Neo dual screen PC will not be releasing in 2020

It looks like Microsoft will not be releasing its much anticipated Surface Neo dual-screen device this year as it has decided to focus on Windows 10X’s compatibility on single screen devices. With the world working through the COVID-19 pandemic and quarantines, Microsoft is shifting its priorities to help people work efficiently in virtual environments.

Windows 10X was initially designed as a version of Windows 10 that would work better on touch-focused dual screened devices. According to internal sources, Microsoft is suspending development of Windows 10X for dual screen devices, and subsequently the Surface Neo and instead, they will be focusing on better implementing Windows 10X for single screen devices.

The Surface Duo, Microsoft’s Android based dual screen phone, is still expected to launch this year, although its launch is expected to be delayed. The developer tools for the device was released back in January 2020 to help build an ecosystem of apps for it.  Microsoft was initially worried with broken supply chains issues in China due to pandemic, but there are report of the supply chains beginning to come back to its former state.
