Last month XDA findings revealed that Redmi K30 Pro might launch under POCO branding in India and everyone assumed it to be long-awaited POCO F2. Later POCO GM, C Manmohan confirmed that POCO F2 is a different smartphone from Redmi K30 Pro in India. Now Google Play’s list of supported devices reveals that the Redmi K30 Pro and upcoming POCO F2 Pro share the same “lmi” code name. It also reveals that Redmi K30 Pro 5G Zoom Edition will be launched under K30 Pro name in the global markets and it also has codename “Imiinpro” hinting that Redmi K30 Pro series is expected to launch in India.
Even after this revelation, POCO F2 remains a mystery. Earlier POCO GM, C Manmohan had said that Redmi K30 Pro will not be rebranded as POCO F2 in India and also said it will not be priced under INR 20,000. Mi 10 India launch is already confirmed, and we should also hear about Redmi K30 Pro India launch this quarter.
Given two Xiaomi devices with flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 865, we don’t see room for another Snapdragon 865 powered device. So now there are good chances that POCO might bring POCO F2 with last gen Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 or 855+ similar to the rumoured realme X3 SuperZoom. We are expecting POCO F2 to launch sometime in Q3 this year. POCO is also working on TWS, and we hope to hear about it soon after lockdown.
