DJI Mavic Air 2 with 48MP camera, 8K Hyperlapse video, FocusTrack and more announced

DJI, the company known for its drones, stabilizers has now announced its latest product – Mavic Air 2 which is a successor of the Mavic Air launched back in 2018. Mavic Air 2 comes after the launch of Mavic mini and includes several improvements over the 2018 Mavic Air.

The Mavic Air 2 sports an improved 48MP f/2.8 camera this time and it is a 1/2-inch CMOS sensor that outputs still photos at 12MP (effective) through pixel binning and at 48MP maximum resolution. The lens itself has an 84-degree field of view and it supports a range of photo and video modes. It can now shoot in 4K at 60fps alongside other resolution like 4K HDR at up to 30fps, 2.7K at up to 60fps, 2.7K HDR at up to 30fps, 1080p FHD slow motion at 240fps, and 1080p FHD HDR at up to 30fps. It can now shoot 8K Hyperlapse video and supports HEVC (H.265) video codec. There are a range of photo modes including Single, Burst, SmartPhoto, HDR Panorama, and more.

Moving on, it has a maximum flight time of 34 minutes without wind, maximum hovering time of 33 minutes without wind and a maximum flight distance of 18.5 km. It also now can transmit 1080p videos up to 10 km through OcuSync 2.0 and as expected, it features FocusTrack that includes Active Track 3.0, Spotlight 2.0, and Point of Interest 3.0. Furthermore, it features cinematic video capture through QuickShots, Obstacle Avoidance, Advanced Pilot Assistance Systems (APAS) 3.0, Return to Home and Precision Landing. Lastly, it packs a 3500mAh battery and weighs 570g.

Pricing and Availability

DJI Mavic Air 2 is priced at US$ 799 (Rs. 61, 040 approx.) and the Fly More Combo is priced at US$ 988 (Rs. 75,478 approx.) and comes with an included remote controller. It is already available to buy in the US.
