The entertainment platforms have witnessed a surge lately with people staying at home. TikTok is one such popular short-video sharing service that has now crossed a whopping 2 Billion downloads globally and this comes just 5 months after it crossed 1.5 Billion downloads.
According to a report from Sensor Tower Store Intelligence, TikTok app has been installed more than 315 Million times during Q1 2020 alone. This data is inclusive of the combined downloads in the App Store and Google Play Store, and doesn’t include 3rd party Android store installs.
The report also reveals that India accounts for the most downloads with 611 million lifetime downloads to date which is followed by China with 196.6 million downloads to date. The United States of America is in the 3rd position with 165 million downloads to date.
Furthermore, in the user spending, China has generated US$ 331 million which is followed by the US with US$ 86.5 million and Great Britain with US$ 9 million in revenue. More companies are entering the short-video market and it will be interesting to see the numbers post the launch of ‘YouTube Shorts’ which is said to take on TikTok.
