OnePlus launched its 55-inch 4K QLED TVs with 50W speakers in India back in September last year starting at Rs. 69,900. Today the OnePlus CEO Pete Lau has confirmed the launch of new OnePlus TV in India in an online event on July 2nd. “We’re making our premium smart TV experience more accessible to our Indian community #SmarterTV,” said Pete Lau in a tweet. This confirms that the new TV will be cheaper compared to the older models.
OnePlus will launch two new series of OnePlus TV. “The new OnePlus smart TVs are targeted to bring a premium experience across different screen sizes to the mid-range as well as the entry-level Smart TV segments in India,” said the company.
The new series will follow OnePlus’ philosophy of burdenless design, best-in-class display, premium design and seamless connected experiences within their respective price segments.
Pete Lau, Founder and CEO, OnePlus, said:
In 2020, we aim to further enhance the OnePlus connected ecosystem experience. We look forward to offering a wider range of smart TVs that embody our burdenless technology experience, and also provide a truly seamless smart TV experience for our community at an accessible price range. We believe the new range of OnePlus TVs will re-define the premium experience in their respective price segments by providing unparalleled quality, coupled with best-in-class displays and premium design.
The teaser mage just shows the top angle of the TV, but it doesn’t reveal any other details such as size of the TV, but we can expect it to run Android 9. According to a new ET report, the affordable model will be priced at $200 or Rs. 15,000 and the company is also planning a mid-range smart TVs priced between Rs 20,000 and Rs 40,000 range.
Bluetooth SIG listing recently revealed a new OnePlus TV with model number 55UA0A00 as well as new remote RC-003A, so we can expect a 55-inch model. This is said to use a new MediaTek processor.
The company has been taking feedback regarding its current TVs and is pushing software updates to fix bugs. The latest OTA update 4 for the TVs that roll out last week brought several fixes including enhancements to Ultra Smooth effect, improvements to Netflix server connectivity, added support for third party AirPlay service apps and more.
The new OnePlus series of TV launch event will happen at 7 PM IST, 2 July, via livestream. We should know more details about the upcoming OnePlus TV models soon.
