Apple’s 2020 Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) is set to kick off today at 10:00 A.M. PDT. (10:30 pm IST). There are many rumours and leaks for the event that are conflicting each other, specifically around the topic of whether Apple will be releasing new hardware or not. On the other hand, there are plenty of leaks of upcoming software updates that Apple has planned.

Yesterday on Twitter, two Apple leakers, Jon Prosser and Max Weinbach, both suggested that Apple will not be unveiling any hardware products at WWDC this year. However, sources at Bloomberg and even popular Apple analyst, Ming Chi Kuo, has reported that Apple is getting ready to announce the switch from Intel processors to its own ARM-based processors for the upcoming iMacs and 13.3-inch MacBook Pro.

Ming Chi Kuo stated that Apple will release its last Intel based iMac sometime in Q3 2020, after which an ARM version will release in Q1 2021. The ARM version 13.3-inch MacBook Pro will release in 2021 too, featuring a 12-core processor. Once the ARM version is introduced, it is said that they will discontinue the Intel version immediately.

With regards to software updates, which is the primary purpose of WWDC, there are plenty of leaks. Twitter user “L0vetodream” has leaked many new updates for macOS, TV OS, Watch OS, iPadOS and iOS. iOS is said to get a redesigned homepage, better widget support, and other UI changes. iPadOS will have enhanced handwritten input along with a new interface for Sidecar.

WatchOS will get the ability to share the watch homepage via a link, and get sleep and hand wash monitoring functions. With regards to macOS, Apple is said to introduce a redesigned UI and also release a huge update for Safari.
