Samsung Electronics has unveiled the 870 QVO SSD its new consumer solid state drive (SSD) line up. It comes with up to eight terabytes (TB) of storage capacity and is built on the company’s second-generation quad-level cell (QLC) technology. It promises sequential read and write speeds of up to 560 MB/s and 530 MB/s and Random Read and Write Speed up to IOPS 98K and 88K, respectively.
The drive’s Intelligent TurboWrite technology allows it to maintain peak performance levels using a large variable SLC buffer, says the company. It promises 13% improvement in random read speed compared to the 860 QVO. The renewed Data Migration and Magician 6 software provide a host of improved and added features, enabling users to upgrade, manage and optimize their SSDs with greater ease.
The 870 QVO comes in 1TB, 2TB, 4TB and 8TB models, and will be available from June 30, 2020 with a manufacturer’s suggested retail price starting at $129.99 (Rs. 9,820 approx.) for the 1TB model, $249.99 (Rs. 18,890 approx.) for the 2TB and $499.99 (Rs. 37,780 approx.) for the 4TB. The 870 QVO 8TB will be available in August. Samsung offers endurance rating of up to 2,880 terabytes written (TBW), or a three-year limited warranty.
