Google One app’s phone backup tool now free for all Google users

The Google One membership program was launched two years ago, giving users a one-stop location for their online storage needs, live support with experts along with other benefits. Google is now making two features, namely phone backup and a new storage manager tool, free for all Google users via the Google One app.

With the app, any Android users can backup up their phone’s device data, messages, photo and videos straight to their Google account, using their free 15GB cloud storage. If they require more storage, they can always purchase one of the membership plans. Google has also announced an iPhone app is in the works, where they will be able to store their photos, videos, contacts, and calendar events with Google.

Google is also introducing a new storage manager in the One app, that will give users various tools to help keep track and manage their files online. Often, backing up everything can mean a lot of unnecessary items get uploaded and clutter up a user’s online storage. With the storage manager, this can be prevented.

These two features will be rolling out to consumers account users with the Google One app (available on the Play Store) in the coming days.
