OnePlus Scout universal search now available in OnePlus Launcher beta in India

OnePlus, one of India’s top smartphone brands, has announced the launch of a new feature for their smartphones called the OnePlus Scout for users in India. It is a system-wide universal search feature that will help users find anything on their device including files, contacts, documents, etc.

The feature works similarly to the Spotlight Search feature found on MacOS, except that it is now available on a OnePlus smartphone. It designed to reduce the number of clicks required by the user to find anything locally or do simple tasks. It can search the app drawer to find any files, contacts, documents, music, or apps and even browse content in apps like movies, nearby locations, services, and more.

Another useful feature is the ability to find solutions to simple math problems, find the latest news, look up the weather, etc. The feature is being tested in the OnePlus Launcher Beta program in India and will soon be available to all Indian OnePlus users.

Commenting on the launch, Ramagopala Reddy, Vice President for R&D, OnePlus India, said:

Since the inception of the OnePlus R&D Centre in Hyderabad, OnePlus Scout is one of the key projects that have been developed entirely out of the Indian centre, exclusively piloted for Indian OnePlus users. In line with our burdenless philosophy when it comes to both hardware and software of our products, we are confident that the OnePlus Scout will improve our user’s experience slashing seconds off the time spent searching for anything on your device.
