Fossil has announced their new Gen 5E smartwatches that come in two sizes — 42mm and 44mm. These smartwatches are less expensive versions of the Fossil Gen 5 smartwatch that was released last year, sharing many of its features such as fitness tracking, sleep tracking, heart rate monitoring, etc.
The Fossil Gen 5E will continue to run the older Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 3100 just like the Gen 5 smartwatch, which is unfortunate considering that Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Wear 4100 has already been released this year. The device will have a 1.19-inch OLED display, 1GB of RAM, 4GB of internal storage, a 300mAh battery, NFC capabilities and it is 3ATM rated for water resistance.
It has a speaker and microphone built in, so users can make and answer calls straight from the watch and it can also be used to trigger the voice assistant. There is no standalone GPS however, so users will be required to connect their smartphone to give the watch your location. The watch will also not come with ambient light sensor, altimeter, or compass.
The Fossil Gen 5E smartwatches is expected to go on sale in the first week on November for a price of $249 (Approx. Rs. 18,270) for both sizes.
