One of the most popular shows of 2020, Star Wars: The Mandalorian from Disney+ is getting a new AR experience from Google. Made in collaboration with LucasFilm, “The Mandalorian AR Experience” app is available for select 5G films, giving users a way to recreate some iconic moments from the show.
In the app, you can bring the many of the characters from the show, including Mando himself, Din Djarin and the Child, straight into your environment in AR. Google has built-in interactions with each character and you can also click photos of your friends besides these characters.
The feature uses the ARCore developer platform to create augmented reality experiences that can interact with the environment and also have additional effects based on user actions.
The Star Wars “The Mandalorian AR Experience” app is available for 5G Pixel devices and select other 5G devices on the Play Store for free. Google will also release more exclusive content on the app every week from now.
