Back in 2013, Motorola launched moto g to disrupt the affordable smartphone segment. Fast-forward to 2020, Motorola launches the new moto g to disrupt the 5G market with its affordable price strategy. At Rs. 20,999, moto g 5G is the cheapest 5G-ready smartphone available in the Indian market over taking OnePlus Nord at Rs. 24,999. We have been using the device for a brief amount of time and here’s our first impression.

The moto g 5G comes with a polycarbonate body with a glossy finish that attracts fingerprints.
In terms of placements, the right side has volume rocker and power/lock button, while the left side houses a dedicated Google Assistant button and a SIM slot (nano + nano / microSD) tray. The bottom side has a 3.5mm audio jack, USB Type-C port, primary microphone and a speaker grille. The top houses just the secondary microphone.
On the front we have a huge 6.7-inch 20:9 aspect ratio FHD+ Max Vision display, translating to 394ppi. It has a screen-to-body ratio of 85% and has a certification for HDR 10 support. There is a 16MP front-facing camera as well. The bigger display is pretty much immersive when it comes to consuming content.
Turning back, we have a triple camera camera setup:

The moto g 5G becomes the first smartphone to launch with Snapdragon 750G 5G mobile platform in India. As per the company claims, the 750G delivers 27% faster GPU performance than the Snapdragon 765G. The Snapdragon 750G 5G uses the latest Cortex A77 architecture with 2 x Kryo 570 Gold Cores for enhanced performance. The GPU of the SD750G is clocked at 950Mhz.
The moto g 5G comes with 128GB inbuilt storage with a microSD card expansion slot of up to 1TB. Like any other smartphone at present, the moto g 5G is shipped with Android 10 out of the box. However, the Android 11 will be rolled out very soon. The phone a physical fingerprint sensor on the back.
The moto g 5G comes with support for 11 Global 5G Network Bands which ensures that you are ready for any Sub 6 5G Band that is launched in India. The moto g 5G is compatible with most Sub 6 bands available globally. It supports other connectivity options including 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 6 802.11 ac (2.4GHz + 5GHz), Bluetooth 5.1, GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, NFC, USB Type-C.
The moto g 5G measures 9.9mm in thickness and weighs around 212grams, which is on the heavier side, thanks to 5000mAh battery. The 5000mAh battery has 20W TurboPower fast charging, so juicing up the huge battery won’t take long.
The Moto G 5G comes in Volcanic Grey and Frosted Silver colours, is priced at Rs. 20,999 and will be available from Flipkart starting from December 7th. HDFC card users get Rs. 1000 discount, so the effective price of the phone is Rs. 19,999.
