Sony FX3 Full-Frame Camera with up to 4K 120 fps recording announced


Sony has announced the newest in their cinema camera lineup, called the FX3. It is a compact, lightweight and powerful camera, featuring a full-frame back-illuminated CMOS Exmor R sensor, BIONZ XR image processing engine, with support for ISO ranges up to 409,600 and more.

With the FX3, Sony has designed a compact cinema camera that offers high operability for hand-held shooting, gimbal and drone-mounted work. It features a Multi-thread (1/4-20 UNC) body that makes it easy to mount accessories and it has a Detachable XLR handle unit.

 

The full-frame, back-illuminated Exmor R CMOS sensor has an effective 10.2 megapixel for movie recording and 12.1 effective megapixels for stills. The BIONZ XR image processing engine enables a standard ISO range is 80 to 102,400, which expandable to 409,600 when shooting a movie, and it offers dynamic range of 15 stops.

The camera is capable of recording at up to 4K at 120fps, and it supports Sony’s Fast Hybrid autofocus system which uses 627 focal plane points to keep the subject in crystal clear focus. The body has 5-axis optical in-body image stabilisation and it can shoot a 4K 60p recording without thermal shutdown thanks to its new cooling system. Being a cinema camera, it supports S-Log3 gamma with S-Gamut3. Cine colour space profiles and it supports internal recording in XAVC S and XAVC S-I formats in 4K and FHD.

The Sony FX3 full-frame Cinema Line camera will be launching in March 2021, and will go on sale for a price of $3900 (Rs. 2,82,070 approx.) / €4,700 (Approx. Rs. 4,13,629).
