Google said to increase Pixel inventory for India this year ahead of rumored Pixel 5a launch on June 11

Google Pixel 5a surfaced in CAD-based renders last month. Now Google has confirmed to ET that it will further increase the Pixel inventory in India this year when it launches the Pixel 5a after the company doubled inventory for Pixel for India last year with the Pixel 4a. Still the phone is facing a huge demand mainly due to the competitive pricing compared to earlier models.

The company is also said to be exploring possibilities to shift a portion of manufacturing of the phone to India for both domestic and export needs, which will bring the cost down since this will cut the import duties.

Google said that opting for an expensive Qualcomm 5G chipset will increase the overall price of a phone, so it didn’t want to go that route by launching the Pixel 5 and Pixel 4a 5G. It is doubtful if the company will launch the Pixel 6 in India.

Based on the renders, the phone will pack a 6.2-inch FHD+ OLED screen, measure 156.2 x 73.2 x 8.8mm (9.4mm with camera bump), retain the rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, 3.5mm audio jack and stereo speakers.

Google did not confirm when we can expect the Pixel 5a, but based on recent rumours the company has scheduled an event on June 11th to introduce the Pixel 5a.
