Apple launches iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 mini in new purple colour variant

Apple at its Spring Loaded event launched a new purple colour variant that will join the blue, green, black, white, and (PRODUCT) RED version. “This new color beautifully accentuates the flat aluminum edges of iPhone 12, which are perfectly color-matched to the precision-milled back glass,” said Apple. These will ship with iOS 14.5, which features the ability to unlock iPhone with Apple Watch while wearing a face mask, an enhanced Apple Podcasts app with redesigned show and episode pages, and a Search tab, as well as new emoji.

To remind you, the iPhone 12 mini and the the iPhone 12 come with 5.4-inch and 6.1-inch OLED Super Retina XDR displays, respectively and have support for HDR and Dolby Vision. These come with new Ceramic Shield protection with 4x better drop performance, thanks to a new high temperature crystallisation step that grows nano-ceramic crystals within the glass matrix. The phones are powered by A14 Bionic 5nm Chip with 11.8 billion transistors and a 6-core design and feature IP68 water resistance (6 meters for up to 30 minutes).

These feature 12MP main camera that promises 27% improvement in low-light performance compared to iPhone 11 along with a 12MP ultra-wide secondary camera. There is a 12MP camera on the front with support for Face ID. All the cameras now have night mode and there is a new night mode time-lapse feature. These come with a Glass back and aluminium design.

Apple has also introduced new MagSafe Leather Case and Leather Sleeve in Deep Violet, a Silicone Case in Capri Blue, Pistachio, Cantaloupe, or Amethyst, and a Leather Wallet in Arizona.

The iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 12 in new Purple colour start at Rs. 69900 and Rs. 79900, respectively and will roll out in India and more than 30 other countries and regions starting from April 30th with pre-orders starting from this Friday, April 23rd.
