ASUS Zenfone 8 Series to be announced on May 12; teases a compact flagship


ASUS has confirmed that it will introduce its Zenfone 8 series smartphones in an online event on May 12th. This will likely include Zenfone 8 and 8 Pro smartphones along with a Zenfone 8 mini since the company has “Big on Perfomrnace. Compact in Size.” tag line.

An earlier report revealed a compact ZenFone Mini. Last month an XDA report revealed that the ZenFone 8 Mini (ASUS_ZS590KS / ASUS_I006D) codenamed ‘SAKE’ will feature a 5.92-inch (2400×1080 pixels) Full HD+ screen with 120Hz refresh rate, 64MP Sony IMX686 main camera along with a Sony IMX663 sensor. Geekbench listing already revealed Snapdragon 888 with 16GB of RAM and Android 11. TÜV SÜD certification revealed 30W fast charging for the phone.

The ZenFone 8 (ASUS_ZS672KS / ASUS_I004D ) codenamed “PICASSO” is said to feature a 6.67-inch (2400×1080 pixels) Full HD+ screen (refresh rate unkown), 64MP Sony IMX686 main camera, 12.2MP Sony IMX363 ultra-wide camera, 24MP  Omnivision OV24B1Q sensor and an 8MP Omnivision OV08A telephoto camera. Geekbench listing already revealed Snapdragon 888 with 8GB of RAM and Android 11 for the phone.

The ASUS Zenfone 8 series launch event starts at 1PM New York Time (10:30 PM IST) on May 12th, and it should offer live stream on YouTube.
