Earlier this month, Twitter finally had a wide rollout of their Spaces audio chatroom feature to all accounts with more than 600 followers. The company is now previewing an extension to the feature, called Ticketed Spaces, which is essentially the ability to host paid live audio rooms.
Over the next few weeks, Twitter will be testing out Ticketed Spaces with a small group of people. When the feature does rollout widely, they have set an eligibility criteria to be able to host Ticketed Spaces, which is that the accounts needs to have 1000 followers, have hosted three spaces in the past 30 days, and be at least 18 years old.
To handle the payments, Twitter is partnering with Stripe, and Twitter will be taking a 20% cut of the revenue, which is after Apple and Google take their 30% cut for in-app purchases. Hosts will also be required to have a Stripe account.
Once the application process is open, Twitter has said that the review process will take a few weeks. The test itself is open to only accounts in the U.S. for now, however anyone from the globe can join the ticketed Space.
Along with Ticketed Spaces, Twitter is also working on introducing the ability to Co-Host a Space, enable Scheduling, more block labels and warnings, and improved captions.
