Intel Core i7-1195G7 and Core i5-1155G7 Tiger Lake-U processors announced

During their virtual conference at Computex 2021, Intel unveiled two new additions to their 11th Gen Intel Core processors belonging to the Tiger Lake-U family. Along with this, Intel announced a partnership with MediaTek and Fibocom to launch their first ever 5G-ready product called the Intel 5G Solution 5000.

The Core i7-1195G7 is Intel’s first ever U-series processor that is capable of max single-core turbo boost of 5.0GHz. It is a 4-core/8-thread CPU with 12MB of L3 cache and has a base frequency of 2.9GHz at 28W. When within the Turbo window, the chip is also capable of 4.6GHz all-core boost. It comes built-in with Intel Iris Xe graphics with 96 execution units and a peak frequency of 1400MHz.

The Core i5-1155G7 is a step above the already existing Core i5-1145G7, with a 4-Core/8-thread design and a max single core boost frequency of 4.5GHz. At 28W, it has a base frequency of 2.5GHz, and it 8MB of L3 cache. It also comes with Intel Iris Xe graphics inside, but this time with 80 execution units and peak frequency of 1350MHz.

As Intel sold their 5G business unit to Apple in 2019, the company had to partner with MediaTek and Fibocom to create the Intel 5G Solution 5000. It is an M.2 module that communicates over the PCIe 3.0 interface and will support 5G Sub-6 GHz, 4G LTE and 3G WCFMA. Intel expects Acer, ASUS and HP to be among the first to introduce OEM laptops this year with Intel 5G Solution 5000 inside.

Commenting on the launch of these new products, Chris Walker, Intel corporate vice president and general manager of Mobility Client Platforms said:

We’ve taken the world’s best processor for thin-and-light Windows laptops and made the experience even better with the addition of our two new 11th Gen Intel Core processors with Intel Iris Xe graphics. In addition, we know real-world performance and connectivity are vital to our partners and the people who rely on PCs every day, so we’re continuing that momentum with more platform capabilities and choice in the market with the launch of our first 5G product for PCs: the Intel 5G Solution 5000.
