Upcoming realme products above Rs. 15,000 will have 5G; realme GT series India launch this Q3 2021


At the India 5G Webinar organized by realme in partnership with Counterpoint today, realme announced its plans for its future 5G devices. The company said that it worked very closely with leading chipset makers like MediaTek to bring the latest 5G chipsets to its users. It added that it is committed to bringing the best 5G experience to users, with cutting-edge processors whether it’s entry-level, mid-range, or premium.

realme India CEO confirmed back in April said that half of the realme products launched in India in 2021 will be 5G-enabled, and all the realme smartphones priced above Rs. 20,000 will be 5G-enabled. Today he said that from now on all the realme products above Rs. 15,000 will have 5G support.

He already said that the company is already working on 5G phones in India priced under Rs. 10,000, and hinted that it might launch next year. The company said that 5G will expand into the narzo segment as well soon, after the realme Narzo 30 5G which was launched a few weeks back.

According to Counterpoint research, it is the No. 1 5G Smartphone Brand under 30K during Mar-Apr 2021. From 2022, most smartphone brands will be shifting to a portfolio with more 5G models as well. realme says that it is already a step ahead in 2021. It also emerged as the No.1 5G Smartphone brand by capturing 28% 5G market share in the month of May 2021, according to Counterpoint Research.

It already announced that it will be setting up seven dedicated 5G R&D teams across the globe, and will dedicate 90% of its R&D resources and invest US $300 Million globally in 5G technology research and product development over the next 2 years.

Last month, realme confirmed that the realme GT 5G will launch in India before Diwali, which is before November. Today the company has confirmed that the realmeG GT series with the latest flagship processors at killing prices will launch in India this quarter, which is before September. This will include multiple GT products, added the company, hinting at the realme GT Master Edition.
