Airtel has discontinued its Rs 49 entry level Prepaid recharge. The company said that its prepaid packs will now start from the Rs 79 Smart Recharge, and it says that offer up to four times more outgoing minutes of usage to customers along with double data. This comes after the company revised its postpaid plans last week.
The company said that the change is in line with the company’s focus on offering superior connectivity solutions. “Airtel customers on entry level recharges can now stay connected for longer without worrying about their account balance,” it added.
The Rs. 79 plan now offers Rs. 64 talk time and 200MB data with 28 days validity. Local and STD calls are charged at 1 paise per second. The Rs. 49 that was discontinued offered Rs. 38.52 talk time and 100MB data, and the Local and STD calls were charged at 2.5 paise per second.

This will increase Airtel’s average revenue per user (ARPU), but customers those who wanted the cheapest plan will have to shell out Rs. 30 more and choose the Rs. 79 plan. This will come into effect starting from tomorrow, July 28.
