Google Tensor SoC is reportedly the Samsung Exynos 9855 SoC

Last week, Google teased its latest line up of Pixel smartphones – Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, with its new custom Google Tensor SoC. While not much detail on the Tensor SoC was shared by the company, new reports suggest that the custom Google SoC is reportedly an Exynos 9855 SoC.

According to reports, Google Tensor SoC will be similar in performance to the Exynos 2100 SoC that powered the Galaxy S21 series, and it will not be closer to the performance of Samsung’s upcoming Exynos 2200 SoC which is said to power the Galaxy S22 series.

The Exynos 9855 SoC has the codename Whitechapel, which is also the codename of Google’s SoC which has now been announced as Tensor. Google and Samsung have been working closely to design this SoC, and this report doesn’t come as a surprise.

The Tensor SoC will be powering the Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, which will be announced sometime in Fall 2021. We should know more information closer to the launch.
