Spotify for Wear OS update adds support for offline music and podcast listening

Spotify has announced a new update to their Wear OS app that will allow premium users to download music and podcasts directly onto their smartwatch for offline listening.

Spotify Premium users will be able to download their albums, playlists, and podcasts to listen offline, while Free users will be able to stream their tunes in Shuffle Mode using a Wi-Fi or cellular connection, as well as download podcasts directly to the watch.

To download music or a playlist for offline listening, follow these steps:

  1. On the watch, find the music and podcasts you want to download on your watch.
  2. Tap “Download to watch.”
  3. To check on the progress, head over to the Downloads section on your watch.
  4. Once the selected playlists, albums, or podcasts in your library are downloaded, you’ll see a little green arrow next to their names.

The feature will roll out over the coming weeks to all Android smartwatches running Wear OS 2.0 and above, and will require the latest version of the Spotify app.
