Boult Audio AirBass SoulPods Review

After consistently delivering some great products at affordable rates, Boult Audio, a company known for its audio products, launched AirBass Soulpods in India. At Rs. 2,999, Boult’s AirBass Soulpods offers an Active Noise Cancellation feature, a long battery life, and more. We used the device for a week, and here’s our review.

Design and build quality

The Boult Audio AirBass SoulPods come in a rounded rectangular case which is light in weight and easy to carry around. It doesn’t attract fingerprints and is not prone to scratches easily. There is a small white LED on the front, but it is not bright. On the top of the shell, you get a Boult Audio branding. The USB Type-C port is on the back of the case. Opening the case, you can see the slots for buds and a button for pairing and reset.

The body is made out of ABS plastic, which is IPX7 water-resistant. It has an angled bud design with extra-soft silicone tips for added comfort. The earbuds are light, fit well, and can be easily worn for long hours without any discomfort. The Boult Audio AirBass SoulPods is available in just two colors – Black and White. The earbuds have touchpads, allowing users to adjust the volume, change tracks, attend calls or trigger the voice assistant with a finger.

Connectivity, Pairing, and Controls

The pairing process in Boult Audio’s AirBass SoulPods is simple, thanks to Bluetooth 5.0. Just press and hold the button in the case for a few seconds when the earbuds are placed. Enable the Bluetooth function on your device, and select the ‘Boult Audio SoulPods’ and connect. I didn’t face any connectivity issues during my use with the OnePlus 9 Pro and Realme GT 5G. It doesn’t have dual-mode connectivity, so you can only pair with one device at a time.

The touch controls on Boult Audio’s AirBass are responsive and work well. Unlike few other buds, you cannot customise the settings. All you can do in this bud is answer calls, adjust volume, play/pause the musical tracks and control the voice assistant. The left earbuds have control for the ANC. The TWS features three-level of ANC – Ambient mode, Normal mode, and the ANC mode. Tap the left earbud to switch between the modes. The ANC is decent considering the price point. We tried various scenarios like sidewalks, gyms, restaurants, and malls.

Audio Quality, Call Performance, and battery life

The SoulPods features 10mm drivers, which the company says is tuned for rich bass. Audio from the Soulpods is very loud, vocals are quite clear, and the treble is also decent enough. In AAC the audio quality is not immersive, but it is good. Voice clarity was good for calls indoors, but it doesn’t cut out wind noise much for outdoors. Overall, these have decent audio quality and average call quality for the price.

According to the company, Boult Audio’s AirBass Soulpods can last 6 hours. During our review, we got about 5 hours with mixed use of with and without noise cancellation in about 70% volume, so it is decent, but it could have been better. With the charging case, you can extend the battery life to 24 hours.

Conclusion

Overall, the Boult Audio AirBass SoulPods is a good Bluetooth true wireless earbuds for the price of Rs. 2999, if you need decent battery life and Active Noise Cancellation., but the audio quality and call quality are just average. It is available on Flipkart and Boult Audio in Black and White color, and you can get it at an offer price of Rs. 2499.
