Qualcomm has announced four new mobile platforms – Snapdragon 778G Plus 5G, 695 5G, 480 Plus 5G, and 680 4G across high-, mid-, and entry-tiers. The company says that these mobile platforms will offer increased performance and capabilities to provide OEMs with additional options to help meet the existing demand.
Snapdragon 778G Plus 5G Mobile Platform
The Snapdragon 778G Plus 6nm SoC, is an enhanced version of Snapdragon 778G with boosted GPU and CPU performance. This has Qualcomm Kryo 670 CPU that brings higher performance up to 2.5 GHz compared to 2.4 GHz in the 778G. There is Adreno 642L GPU, which will deliver up to 20% faster graphics rendering compared to the previous generation, says the company. Other specifications remain the same.
Snapdragon 695 5G Mobile Platform
The Snapdragon 695 8nm SoC is the successor to last year’s Snapdragon 690 Mobile Platform that uses Qualcomm Kryo 660 CPU with up to 2.2 GHz clock speeds compared to 2 GHz Kryo 560 cores in the predecessor that promises up to 15% improvement from previous generation.
It also has Qualcomm Adreno 619 GPU that promises up to 30% GPU performance increase compared to the predecessor. Unlike the Snapdragon 690 which only has sub-6 5G support, this also brings mmWave 5G support to the 6 Series.
Snapdragon 480 Plus 5G Mobile Platform
The Snapdragon 480G Plus 8nm SoC, is an enhanced version of Snapdragon 480 with boosted GPU and CPU performance. This has Qualcomm Kryo 480 CPU that brings higher performance up to 2.2 GHz compared to 2 GHz in the 480. There is Adreno 619 GPU, which is the fastest in the 4-series, says the company. Other specifications remain the same.
Snapdragon 680 4G Mobile Platform
The new Snapdragon 680 6nm SoC uses Qualcomm Kryo 265 CPU with up to 2.4 GHz clock speeds, Qualcomm Adreno 610 GPU, Qualcomm Spectra 346 Triple ISP, and Snapdragon X11 LTE Modem. Qualcomm says that the 6nm SoC will offer 20% improvement to overall battery performance since the predecessor. It also has Quick Charge 3.0 support.
