After revising its postpaid plans back in July, Airtel today hiked its prepaid plans, which now start from Rs. 99 for a 28-day plan, which is a 25% increase. To remind you, the company removed the Rs. 49 plan back in July. However, this doesn’t come with SMS.
If you need SMS, you need to spend Rs. 179 instead of Rs. 149, which is a 20% hike. Rs. 219 plan which offered similar benefits along with 1GB data per day now costs Rs. 265. The popular Rs. 598 plan that offers 84 days validity and 1.5GB data per day will now cost Rs. 719.
Other plans, including the data top-up plans have seen a 20% hike in tariffs. During the first price hike, Airtel said that the change is in line with the company’s focus on offering superior connectivity solutions.
Airtel said that the new pre-paid plans will come into effect starting from November 26th. Airtel’s rivals Reliance Jio and Vodafone have not announced a price hike yet, but we can expect announcements soon.
