Earlier this year, Google acquired Fitbit for $2.1B to launch its first smartwatch somewhere in 2022. Recently, the renders of the Google smartwatch surfaced online, giving us a glimpse of what it will look like.
The Pixel Watch will feature a circular dial with a bezel-less display, along with a button on the right side. Similar to Apple Watch’s Digital Crown, this could be used for navigation and interaction.
The device is expected to feature deep integration with Fitbit in new software that Google calls “Nightlight,” and will run on the Wear OS.
The so-called Pixel Watch will come with 20 different proprietary wristbands. Currently, the Pixel Watch is said to have the codename ‘Rohan’ and could come with various features, including a SpO2 monitor, ECG monitor, heart rate monitor, and more.
Moreover, the Pixel Watch is expected to come with a slow charging mechanism. According to the report, the device is currently in the final stage of development and is expected to launch in the first half of 2022.
According to The Verge, the Pixel Watch could be more expensive than Fitbit’s products, making it above $299. The smartwatch was supposed to be unveiled alongside the Pixel 6 but got delayed due to unknown reasons.
