A couple of months back, Apple analyst Ming Chi-Kuo said the 2022 iPhone Pro models will feature a hole-punch display. A new report from Korean website The Elec says that these will feature a 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch LTPO OLED screens with 120Hz refresh rate. The iPhone 13 Pro series already uses LTPO displays with variable refresh rate supplied by Samsung.
The report says that LG Display might also supply the display for the iPhone 14 Pro series in 2022, if Apple approves those displays.
It adds that BOE will continue to only supply LTPS TFT OLED panels to Apple next year for the iPhone 14 mini and iPhone 14 that are said to feature 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch screens, respectively. BOE is expected to start supplying LTPO TFT OLED panels for the iPhone 15 series in 2023.
Earlier rumours said that the iPhone 14 Pro models will feature an upgraded 48MP wide camera sensor instead of the 12MP sensor in the iPhone 13 Pro.
Apple is also expected to introduce the 3rd generation iPhone SE in 2022 featuring the same 4.7-inch design, but with an upgraded processor and 5G support. Later in 2023, Apple is expected to under display TouchID for the first time.
