Back in 2020, Google introduced a new VPN feature for Google One subscribers of the 2TB or higher plan on Android. The company has now expanded the feature to Google One subscribers on iOS devices, and it can be shared with up to 5 family members.
Turning on Google One’s VPN feature will encrypt a phone’s online traffic, for all apps and browsers. The service has been available for Android devices for quite some time, and now it’s available on iOS devices. It will also offer ten more locations including: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Ireland, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden and Switzerland.
On Android devices, the VPN feature received a couple of updates such as:
- Safe Disconnect: Only use the internet when the VPN is activated.
- App Bypass: Allow specific apps to use a standard connection instead of the VPN.
- Snooze: Temporarily turn off the VPN.
Just as before, Google One premium subscribers will continue to have access to Pro Sessions for VPN support, where a one-on-one online session can be scheduled with a Google expert to learn more about VPNs and how to stay safer online.
