The boAt Airdopes 601 ANC earbuds’ charging case has a unique shape that we have not seen on other similar offerings in the market. Besides its shape, there is a matte black finish that gives it a minimalist look, and it is made of plastic, which is a standard in the TWS market segment. The case has a Type-C charging port, which is a good thing. Even the placement of the port is different at the side, while a majority of the TWS earbuds cases have the same at the back. There is a battery indicator at the front of the case.
Flipping to the bottom of the case, you can see the model number of the boAt Airdopes 601 ANC, and it shows that any charger with 5V can charge this earbuds case.
When it comes to the earbuds, the boAt offering also has a blend of both matte and glossy finishes. The charging pins can be seen at the bottom of the earbuds. On the whole, the boAt Airdopes 601 ANC features a compact and pocketable design that makes it comfortable to carry around wherever you go. It is comfortable to wear even for long hours without any issue, thanks to the various eartips.
As there is IPX4 rating, it is possible to use these TWS earbuds even when it is raining or while you are in your gym.
Connectivity, Pairing, Controls
The boAt offering comes with Google Fast Pair for a hassle-free process to pair your Bluetooth devices on all supported Android devices. It can be easily paired with the already paired device on just opening the case, and there was no issue in this process during the review.
With Bluetooth 5.0, the boAt Airdopes 601 ANC lets you enjoy uninterrupted, flawless and smooth music listening experience. What’s more, there is in-ear detection that pauses the music playback automatically as you pull the earbud out of your ear, and it replays automatically once you re-insert it.
Also, the boAt Airdopes 601 ANC comes with swipe and touch controls. You can swipe up and down to adjust the volume levels. It is also possible to adjust the media playback using these controls, and double tap on the right earbud to enable Google Assistant or Siri on the paired smartphone. On tapping and holding the right earbud, it is possible to enable hybrid ANC. You can check the weather, news, and the latest cricket scores with a single press via the voice assistant.
Audio Quality and Call Performance
The boAt Airdopes 601 ANC packs a 10mm dynamic driver that offers crystal clear sound. As boAt always offers balanced bass that is not too heavy but still impressive, this offering also comes with high-definition and crystal clear output. It won’t be an exaggeration to say that this pair of TWS earbuds lives up to the legacy of the other boAt Airdopes. There are six microphones in total with three mics in each earbud delivering a smooth calling experience with the ENxTM technology. These distinguish the voice from other sounds with a combination of advanced beamforming, cascaded noise reduction and dynamic processing.
The hybrid noise cancellation of up to 33dB distinguishes human voices from background noises when on a call. There are ambient and transparency modes as well. This is enhanced with the ambient noise mode. Voice clarity was good, but the volume levels were not too loud. To summarize, the boAt offering has a good audio quality and acceptable call quality for its pricing.
Battery Life
As per the company, the boAt Airdopes 601 ANC TWS earbuds can provide up to 4.5 hours of non-stop music playback with ANC. When ANC is turned off, it can last for up to 5.5 hours of music playback. Taking the case into consideration, it is said that the earbuds can last up to 22 hours, which takes the overall battery life up to 28 hours. What’s more, there is fast charging and with just five minutes of charging, the boAt Airdopes 601 ANC can provide up to 60 minutes of playback. It is available for Rs. 3999 from boAt website.
