AMD has announced the completion of their acquisition of American semiconductor manufacturing company Xilinx, as the deal has received regulatory approval. The acquisition will expand AMD’s portfolio of products in the industry, and it will also double the number of employees under AMD in India.
With the completion of the acquisition, the name of the Xilinx business will be changed to Adaptive and Embedded Computing Group (AECG), with the same CEO as before, Victor Peng. The company will continue to focus on their FPGA and Adaptive SoC and embedded product roadmaps. The acquisition will also increase AMD’s Total addressable market (TAM) from $80B to $135B.
