Samsung Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy S22 FE could use MediaTek SoC in some markets

Samsung finally switched from Exynos to Snapdragon SoC for its flagships in most markets, including India with the Galaxy S22. Now, a new report from BusinessKorea says that the company is planning to switch to MediaTek flagship SoC for the next flagship and the mid-range Galaxy S22 FE in some market.

Samsung has been using MediaTek SoCs for its budget and mid-range smartphones, and according to the report, about half of the Galaxy S22 FE smartphones and Galaxy S23 smartphones sold in Asia will use a MediaTek chip.

MediaTek’s latest flagship, the Dimensity 9000 is on par with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 in terms of performance. However, several users have reported stuttering issues with the S22 series powered by the Exynos 2200 SoC.

If Samsung uses a MediaTek SoC for its next flagship, it will likely be the successor to the Dimensity 9000. However, it is not clear if the Dimensity 9000 will power the S22 FE. We are months away from the next Samsung flagship and the FE model, so Samsung anything is possible before it locks the SoC for the phones.
