E Ink, a global commercial leader in digital paper technology, today announced the release of E Ink Gallery 3, the next generation of color ePaper panel for the eReader and eNote sectors, with the goal of revolutionizing reading through the use of low power.
The E Ink Gallery 3 platform is built on the E Ink ACeP Advanced Color ePaper. A full-color gamut is achieved with this platform by using a four particle ink system: cyan, magenta, yellow, and white, which allows for a full-color gamut at each pixel.
The black and white update time in Gallery 3 has been reduced to 350 milliseconds (ms), the quick color mode is 500 ms, the normal color mode is 750-1000 ms, and the best color mode is 1500 ms. This is a significant improvement over the first generation of E Ink Gallery, which had a two-second black and white refresh time and a ten-second color update time. Furthermore, Gallery 3 will have a higher resolution of 300 pixels per inch (ppi) versus the previous 150ppi and an operating temperature of 0-50 degrees Celsius, which is comparable to black and white eReaders.
E Ink Gallery 3 will also enable pen input in black and white, as well as numerous different colors and a 30 ms update time. E Ink Gallery 3 will feature E Ink’s innovative ComfortGaze front light, which provides blue-light safe viewing.
It is unclear when the new panel-equipped e-readers will be accessible to consumers through e-reader makers such as Amazon and Kobo. As a result, we will have to wait for further developments in this subject.
E Ink will showcase this and foldable and rollable versions of E Ink Gallery 3 at Touch Taiwan 2022 from April 27-29, 2022.
Regarding this new introduction, Johnson Lee, CEO of E Ink, said,
