realme GT Neo3 Unboxing and First Impressions

realme launched the GT Neo3 smartphone in India today as the successor to last year’s GT Neo2 model. It has upgrades in all the areas starting from the display, SoC, camera and packs a whopping 150W fast charging. We got to check out the 150W edition phone. Here are our first impressions.

This is the first realme phone to come with a USB Type-C charger. The 160W charger that supports PD and PPS charging as well.

The charger is quite heavy, so it might not be easy to carry around.

 

The phone has a 6.7-inch Full HD+ AMOLED screen which a centre punch-hole for the first time on a realme phone. Thanks to up to 1000 nits brightness, the screen is bright even outdoors, and the 100% DCI-P3 wide color gamut offers vibrant colours. It has 120Hz refresh rate screen with up to 1000Hz instant touch sampling rate. The screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5.

Inside the tiny punch-hole, there is a 16-megapixel camera. The earpiece grill is present on the top edge, which doubles up as a secondary speaker.

Since the phone’s screen uses new generation COP packaging process, it has just 2.37mm bottom bezel, which results in high 94.2% screen-to-body ratio. It has an in-display fingerprint scanner. In the realme Labs, there is a heart rate measurement option that lets you use the fingerprint sensor for heart rate tracking.

It is one of the first phones to be powered by MediaTek Dimensity 8100 SoC. The phone has 12GB LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB UFS 3.1 storage. It has stainless steel liquid cooling max with a total heat dissipation area of 39606mm², VC liquid cooling system covering the area up to 4129mm², has 9-layer heat dissipation structure. The phone runs Android 12 with realme UI 3.0, and the company has promised 2 years of Android updates and 3 years of security patches.

Coming to the button placements and ports, the power button is present on the right side, the volume rockers are present on the left. The dual SIM slot, primary microphone, USB Type-C port and the loudspeaker grill are present on the bottom. The secondary microphone is on the top along with a speaker vent. The phone doesn’t have an expandable storage. This has a plastic frame, so you don’t see antenna bands.

It supports 4K 30fps video recording from the rear camera, and the front camera supports 1080p recording. There is also Starry Mode, Dynamic Bokeh Portrait, Bokeh Flare Portrait and more features.

The phone has an AG glass back that reduces the light reflection rate and is not prone to fingerprints. The Nitro Blue and Stripe White models feature a racing stripe on the back The phone packs a 4,500mAh battery with 150W UltraDart wired fast charging that can charge up to 50% in 5 minutes and 100% in 17 minutes.

Ensuring safety to users, the realme GT NEO 3 also comes with TUV Rheinland Safe Fast-Charge System certification and 38 layers of safety protection, Smart MCU Current Control Management, and a Dual FPC Connector, says the company. In the long run, realme GT NEO 3 can significantly reduce the decline in effective battery capacity and ensure the phone’s longevity after long-term use. Even after 1600 charge and discharge cycles, the battery lifespan of realme GT NEO 3 will remain at 80%, says realme.

The GT NEO 3 150W UltraDart Charge model that we have costs Rs. 42,999 for the single 12GB + 256GB model, and the 80W standard model with a bigger 5000mAh battery starts at Rs. 36,999 for the 8GB + 128GB model. The phone will be available from realme.com, Flikart and offline stores starting from May 4th
