PM Modi to launch 5G in India on October 1, Jio confirms 5G Demo at IMC

India 5G auction got over on August 1st. After two months, the Indian government has officially announced that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch 5G services tomorrow, 1st October at 10 AM during the inauguration of 6th edition of India Mobile Congress (IMC-2022) in Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.

The official release said that the 5G technology will provide seamless coverage, high data rate, low latency, and highly reliable communications. It will increase energy efficiency, spectrum efficiency and network efficiency.

Reliance Jio to Demonstrate 5G at IMC

Reliance Jio acquired the highest 24,740 MHz spectrum in the auction for Rs. 88,078 crore. The company announced that it will have a 5G demo at the event. The company recently confirmed 5G roll out in multiple key cities by Diwali.

This week, Vi announced that it has formed a strategic partnership with OnePlus to accelerate the growth of the 5G device ecosystem in India.

Nokia said that it will demonstrate a wide array of exciting 5G possibilities at its booth. It will be collaborating with Indian startups and academia to bring together a range of India specific 5G use cases for various verticals including agriculture, healthcare, retail among others.

Airtel also reportedly plans for 5G demo at the event tomorrow, but it has not confirmed anything officially.

India Mobile Congress 2022

The India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2022 that is jointly organized by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) and Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) has the theme ‘New digital Universe’ and will be held from 1st to 4th October.

It will bring together leading thinkers, entrepreneurs, innovators, and government officials to discuss and showcase unique opportunities emerging from the rapid adoption and spread of digital technology.
