Apple could launch new MacBook Pro, Mac Mini within months

According to Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, Apple intends to introduce new MacBook Pro, Mac mini, and Mac Pro models over the next few months. Gurman indicated in his most recent “Power On” email that Apple is still working on the first silicon Mac Pro and has apparently intensified internal testing.

The “M2 Ultra” and “M2 Extreme” chips, which are at least twice or four times as powerful as the M2 Max, are rumoured to be available for the high-end Mac desktop. Gurman thinks that the Mac Pro will have options for up to 256GB of RAM, between 76 and 152 graphics cores, and between 24 and 48 CPU cores.

Gurman detailed a Mac Pro device with 24 CPU cores (16 performance and eight efficiency cores), 76 graphics cores, and 192GB of memory that Apple is testing. MacOS Ventura 13.3 is on the machine. He also confirmed the availability of M2 Pro and M2 Max models for the upcoming 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro models.

The M2 Max will contain 12 CPU cores (eight performance and four efficiency) and 38 GPU cores, with up to 64GB of memory. The M2 Max should be offered in both display sizes.

According to rumours, the 13-inch MacBook Pro and MacBook Air both have the same M2 processor as the next Mac mini. Apple tested an M2 Pro CPU with more cores inside the new Mac mini, but Gurman did not provide any additional information regarding whether the company is moving forward with that model. Gurman said that he thinks the new MacBook Pro and Mac mini will come out “within the next few months,” but the new Mac Pro won’t come out until 2023.
