Twitter rolls out Blue subscription for Blue checkmark [Update: Now live]


Update: Twitter Blue, the company’s paid monthly subscription that adds a blue checkmark to Twitter accounts and offers early access to new features, like Edit Tweet, is now live for iOS users in the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and the UK. Twitter says that the $7.99/month is an introductory offer.

Twitter said that Existing Twitter Blue subscribers who initially subscribed on iOS will need to upgrade to the higher price on iOS to receive a blue checkmark. Android or web users of Blue can cancel, or it will be cancelled automatically with notice.

Changes to blue checkmark

Twitter now has two blue checkmark verification badges. Accounts that have already been verified under the previous verification criteria (active, notable, and authentic) or that the account has an active subscription to Twitter Blue.

Accounts that receive the blue checkmark as part of a Twitter Blue subscription will not undergo review to confirm that they meet the active, notable and authentic criteria that was used in the previous process, confirmed the company.

Earlier: Nov 6, 2022 – After teasers, Twitter has started rolling out new features for Twitter Blue subscribers, including Blue checkmark account verification at $7.99/month. The company has updated its iOS app that says that it is testing and pushing changes in real-time. These features are still limited to the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and the UK.

However, Elon Musk has confirmed that Twitter Blue will also roll out in other markets, including India, in less than a month. He already said that price will be adjusted per country according to purchasing power parity.

To remind you, Twitter Blue subscription was launched last year for $2.99/month, but it was increased to $4.99/month in July.
