Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra camera sample surfaces

Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, the company’s next flagship smartphone, should arrive in Q1 2023. We had already seen the renders of the phone, now the first camera sample from the phone has surfaced, thanks to leaker Ice Universe.

The Galaxy S23 Ultra is said to be the first Samsung phone to use a 200MP camera. According to the zoomed image posted by the leaker, the camera offers more details compared to the Galaxy S22 Ultra and the Google Pixel 7 Pro. These should be a crop from the original full resolution image.

According to the leaker, the default resolution in S23 Ultra is 3000×4000, which is 12MP, and not 12.5MP after pixel binning. There are also 50MP (6120×8160 pixels) and a 200MP  (12240×16320 pixels) modes. The leaker also reveals f/1.7 aperture for the camera, compared to ƒ/1.8 aperture in the S22 Ultra.

He added that the S23 Ultra will not lose details in bright areas even when zoomed in, which has been an issue with the S22 Ultra.

Based on earlier rumours, the phone is said to retain the similar ultra-wide, 10MP telephoto and a 10MP Periscope lens for 10x optical zoom, same as the predecessor.

The Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra series is rumoured to be announced in the first week of February 2023.
