Airtel today announced that it has launched its 5G Plus services at the Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport, Varanasi, making it the first airport in the state to enjoy 5G services. This month, the company launched its 5G services at the Terminal 2 of Bengaluru Airport and in Pune Lohegaon Airport.
Varanasi was one amongst the first 8 cities in the country to get the Airtel 5G Plus service. The services are currently available at Benaras Hindu University (BHU), Ghatt Road, Adampur, Beniya Bagh Kashi Vishwanath Temple, Rajghat, Sarnath, Sigra, Thateri Bazaar and few other locations.
Airtel said that is augmenting its network further to make its services available across the city in due course of time.
This will help passengers enjoy 5G services on their 5G smartphones while they are at the arrival and departure terminals, lounges, boarding gates, migration and immigration counters, security areas, baggage claim belts, parking area etc.
Airtel 5G is now available in 10 cities – Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Siliguri, Nagpur, Varanasi, Panipat and Gurugram.
The company already confirmed that it will cover in all key metros by the end of this year, all of urban India in 2023 and across the country by March 2024. Since the existing Airtel 4G SIM is 5G enabled, no SIM change is needed to enjoy 5G services. Customers can enjoy 5G on their existing data plans.
