Google Workspace gets resizeable pivot tables in Sheets, improved Gmail search results, and more

Google has announced that it is bringing new updates to Workspace. These updates include better accuracy in Gmail, customizable pivot tables in Sheets, and the ability to share Docs, Sheets, or Slides files with Google Meet call participants through in-meeting chat. Earlier, Google updated Workspace apps for larger screens.

Resizing Pivot Tables in Sheets

Google has announced the implementation of a user-requested functionality that allows users to change the width of the pivot table editor side panel during the creation or modification of a pivot table. When column or field names are too long to display in their entirety, this feature comes in handy.

Improved search results based on recent search activity in Gmail

When you use Gmail on the web, you will now see improved search results based on your most recent activity in Gmail searches. Furthermore, Gmail makes it easier to search by offering search phrases as you enter.

These search phrases are based on data from your messages, contacts, labels, or previous searches. Filters could be used to filter down the results of your search. The blog post says that the new update to Gmail search will make the results better by making them more relevant and contextual.

Share Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides files in Google Meet chat

Google unveiled earlier this year the option to join or present on a Google Meet call directly from Google Docs, Sheets, or Slides. Users can now quickly share files with meeting attendees via in-meeting chat if they are presenting or attending a meeting from a file.

With this update, you can give all or some meeting attendees access to a document, spreadsheet, or presentation. This lets everyone in the meeting interact while talking.

Availability

According to Google, the aforementioned updates will be available to all Workspace and G Suite users within the next 15 business days.
