Today, Instagram, which is owned by the company Meta, released a series of updates aimed at making it simpler for users to stay in touch with their friends. Recently, Instagram rolled out Account Status Update, which lets creators see if their posts are being blocked.
Notes
A new way to talk with your friends and find out what they’re doing, Notes are short posts with only text and emojis that can be up to 60 characters long.
- To leave a note, go to the top of your inbox and choose the people you follow back or people on your Close Friends list. Your note will stay at the top of their inbox for 24 hours.
- DMs will show up in your inbox when someone responds to a note.
According to Instagram, Notes provide users with a casual and spontaneous means of expression and interaction.
Create moments with friends
People appreciate sharing highlights and daily occurrences in stories. Instagram says these new Stories capabilities will enable users to share in spontaneous, fun ways to strengthen friendships.
Add Yours nominations
When you see a reminder that makes you think of a friend, you could use the Add Yours feature’s “pass it on” button to send them the invite.
Candid Stories
Capture a candid using the Stories camera, the multi-author story at the top of the feed, or the daily notification reminder that appears after your first candid.
If you do not want to get the daily notification reminder, you can turn it off in your settings. Meta stated that it is also testing a similar function on Facebook Stories.
Collaborate and keep up with groups
Group Profiles
People will soon be able to establish and join this new sort of profile to share updates and stories with friends in a dedicated, shared profile.
- When you share content to a Group Profile, it is only shared with group members rather than your followers, and it is put on the Group Profile rather than your own.
- Tap the “+” button and then pick Group Profiles to create a new group profile.
Collaborative Collections
Additionally, the company stated that it is testing a means for users to interact with friends over common interests by storing postings in a collaborative collection in your group or 1:1 DMs.
You can begin or contribute to a collaborative collection by saving a post straight from your feed, or by sending a post to a friend via direct message and saving it from there.
