JBL says it has sold over 200 million headphones in India

HARMAN International, a Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. company focused on connected technologies for automotive, consumer, and enterprise applications, has reached a major milestone.

A growing headphone market, global demand for high-quality audio, and JBL’s ability to recognize and anticipate customer demands have helped JBL ship 200 million headphones.

JBL disclosed that its objective for the past decade has been to help individuals get the most out of every listening moment. Since 2020, demand for headphones has skyrocketed due to pandemic-related trends such as greater HD music streaming, in-game music consumption, podcasts, home-based work and teleconferencing, and sports and biometrics purposes.

This exceptional speed is seen in industry estimates anticipating market growth of 17.6% between now and 2028 and in JBL’s results: JBL’s Headphones segment topped Sony globally in volume share in Q2, giving JBL the number one global audio brand in volume after Apple. The JBL Tune Flex with transformable design, launched in India, is the most recent addition to the firm’s devices.

JBL was one of the first companies to focus on immersive listening experiences, and its headphones have always gone above and beyond what people expected. These headphones are great for music lovers, sports fans, gamers, and young people who are getting their first taste of high-quality audio.

With a focus on quality, comfort, customizability, innovation, and sustainability, JBL’s future vision for headphones is bolder than ever. The latest AI technology can create adaptive music that adapts to listeners’ pulse rates. In the future, headphones will have 3D rendering algorithms that mimic cathedral and gym reverberation.

This promises gaming headphones that are aware of the spatial context and can flawlessly simulate virtual reverberations, resulting in believable, immersive experiences. Accurate spatial audio will be key to the metaverse.

Speaking on the occasion, Dave Rogers, President of HARMAN’s Lifestyle Division, said:

We are thrilled to hit this 200 million milestone, which affirms our ability to delight listeners with the best-sounding headphones on the market. JBL’s engineering teams are constantly exploring new horizons of innovation, and we are very excited about what the future of audio holds.
