Apple likely to push its Mixed-Reality headset, launch 15″ MacBook Air, but no major updates for Apple Watch, iPad, AirPods in 2023

According to the most recent Bloomberg article, Apple will promote its Mixed-Reality Headset in 2023, but not much more. Moreover, the iPhone SE 4 has been reportedly cancelled according to the latest reports.

Apparently, after seven years of work, Apple is almost ready to introduce its first mixed-reality headset. However, the emphasis on this innovative technology will result in a more subdued 2023, the report added.

Mixed-Reality headset

According to Mark Gurman’s report, Apple intended to unveil the headset in January 2023 and begin shipping it later that year. In order to debut it in time for the annual Worldwide Developers Conference in June, the company now plans to do it this spring.

Meanwhile, Apple has already given the device for testing with some high-profile software developers, allowing them to get started creating third-party apps. The device’s operating system, internally termed “Borealis,” will be known as xrOS in the marketplace.

He further asserted that, under the existing schedule, Apple may release the product to the general public under the likely moniker Reality Pro before informing developers of its software features in June. The company then would deliver the product later in the fall of 2023, according to this schedule.

Apple is betting on the product to be its highly anticipated launch for this year, despite the fact that there are still numerous issues to iron out with the device, including those concerning hardware, software, and apps, and the manner in which it will be branded and delivered.

Apple enlisted the aid of numerous hardware and software engineering departments to make that happen. Other projects have been impacted by that, some of which are already experiencing delays and budget reductions brought on by the economic downturn. And, according to the article, it might indicate that Apple has fewer significant innovations to showcase this year.

iOS 17 and iPadOS 17

Mark Gurman added that in addition to iOS 16 challenges, Apple’s concentration on the xrOS operating system had also compromised some additional features in iOS 17 as well as iPadOS 17, the upcoming significant revisions to the iPhone and iPad software.

There may not be as many significant improvements to that programme, known as Dawn, as first anticipated and the same is true of macOS 14, also known as Sunburst.

Apple’s Plans for 2023

He said that there will be not be any major updates for AirPods, Apple Watch, iPad, or Apple TV in 2023. Apple is said to launch a 15-inch MacBook Air in 2023, however the new 12-inch MacBook which was rumoured for 2024 is no longer on Apple’s near-term road map, according to the report.
