We had already heard rumours of Samsung using Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC for all the countries globally, since the company has not developed an Exynos flagship for this year.
Even the benchmarks that surfaced a couple of months back indicated that Samsung will use a higher clocked chip with Cortex-X3 prime clocked at 3.36 GHz, which is significantly higher than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2’s clock speed of 3.2 GHz that is used in other smartphones. This could offer about 5% performance boost.
Now, a new report from 9to5Google says that the customized version that will be used in the phone will be called “Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Mobile Platform for Galaxy.” The report however doesn’t say if Samsung will use the branding globally.
Earlier rumours said that the only Europe will get the higher clocked version, but some reports indicate that all the countries could get the higher clocked version. Even though earlier rumours revealed that the chips will be made in Samsung’s foundry, TSMC will likely make it.
We should know more details about the S23 series and the new chip when the phones go official next month.
