OPPO Reno8 T 5G Unboxing and First Impressions

OPPO launched the Reno8 T 5G, the latest phones in the Reno8 series, in India today. It has a large 6.7-inch FHD+ 3D curved 120Hz AMOLED screen, is powered by Snapdragon 695 SoC and comes with support for 67W fast charging. We got to check out the smartphone. Here are our first impressions.

The phone has a 6.7-inch Full HD+ AMOLED screen which a centre punch-hole. Since it has up to 950 nits brightness, the screen is bright even outdoors, and the 100% DCI-P3 wide color gamut offers vibrant colours. It has 120Hz refresh rate screen with up to 360Hz touch sampling rate.

Inside the tiny punch-hole, there is a 32-megapixel camera. The earpiece grill is present on the top edge, which doubles up as a secondary speaker.

The phone features an in-display fingerprint scanner, and the bottom bezel as sleek as the Reno8 Pro.

It is powered by Snapdragon 695 SoC compared to Dimensity 1300 in the Reno8. The phone has 8GB LPDDR4X RAM with up to 5GB of virtual RAM and 128GB UFS 3.1 storage. The phone runs Android 13 with ColorOS 13 on top.

Coming to the button placements and ports, the power button is present on the right side, the volume rockers are present on the left. The hybrid dual SIM slot, primary microphone, USB Type-C port and the loudspeaker grill are present on the bottom. The secondary microphone is on the top. This has a plastic frame, so you don’t see the antenna bands.

It promises crisp, evenly-exposed 12MP photos in all lighting
conditions with Nonapixel Plus binning technology. It has Bokeh Flare portrait, AI Portrait Retouching that makes use of 373 different facial feature points through OPPO’s facial recognition algorithms to add subtle retouching effects in real time.

It supports 1080p video recording for both rear and front cameras, and doesn’t have a portrait video option.

The OPPO Glow design on the back cover comprises millions of pyramid shaped crystals that are etched at the microscopic level. Additionally, the rear surface of the phone is fingerprint-proof. It is just 7.7mm and weighs 171 grams.

The phone packs a 4,800mAh battery that charges 100% in under 45 minutes with OPPO’s 67W SUPERVOOC fast-charging technology. It has proprietary Battery Health Engine technology that increases charge cycles to 1,600 (double the industry average of just 800 recharges).
